How Date Differences Work

Calculating time between dates accounts for months with different lengths (28-31 days), leap years (every 4 years, except centuries), and the Gregorian calendar system used worldwide.

Business day estimates use the 5/7 ratio (approximately 71.4% of calendar days are weekdays). For precise business day counts, you'd also need to exclude public holidays specific to your country.

This calculator counts the difference between dates. If you want to include both the start and end date, add 1 to the result. For example, Jan 1 to Jan 3 is 2 days difference, but 3 days inclusive.

How do I calculate business days?

Business days exclude weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and public holidays. As a rough estimate, multiply calendar days by 5/7 to approximate business days. For exact counts, you need to account for specific holidays.

Yes. Our calculator shows results in years, months, weeks, days, hours, and minutes. For hours, multiply days by 24. For minutes, multiply hours by 60.

How many days are in a year?
